Red Flag Warning and Possible Electrical Power Shutdown (Post Date: 10/14/18)
The City of Camarillo and the rest of Ventura County will be under a red flag warning for increased fire danger conditions from 10:00 PM Sunday night until 8:00 PM Tuesday night. There is a high wind warning for the county with wind speeds estimated at 60-65 mph. The worst wind is anticipated between 1:00 AM Monday morning and Monday afternoon.
Southern California Edison is implementing its Public Safety Power Shutdown Protocol beginning tonight. Edison will deploy workers in the field to observe conditions and the effect the wind is having on their power lines. It is possible that electrical circuits serving power to Camarillo customers may be de-energized to avoid a fire. De-energized circuits will not be re-energized until the wind dies down and fire conditions improve (humidity increases).
Be prepared! Have flashlights ready to go. Have your cell phone fully charged at all times. Prepare for traffic delays as traffic signals could be out. Use your cell phone as your alarm clock, since your bedside alarm clock may not have a battery back-up.
