COVID-19 Statement: In an effort to limit the spread of the COVID-19 virus and in compliance with current State Orders, City Hall and the Community Development Department counter are currently closed to the public, with the exception of scheduled appointments. Adjustments have been made to continue to conduct City business while practicing social distancing and reducing the spread of COVID-19. As we all adjust to this new idea of normal, the Community Development Department continues to provide services, although some procedures may have been modified due to COVID-19. The City supports construction, development, and other services that are allowed under the current conditions. Planning Division – Staff reviews site-specific development applications, for all commercial, industrial, and residential projects to ensure the uses meet the City's architectural, landscaping and development standards and comply with the City's growth ordinance, zoning and sign codes, and meets all applicable state and federal environmental guidelines.
Planning Commission – The role of the Planning Commission is to review and make decisions or recommendations to the City Council on various applications, including requests for annexation, subdivision development, requests and amendments to Zoning Ordinances, and the General and Specific Plans. Staff provides information and guidance to the Planning Commission, which is comprised of five City Council appointees.
Building and Safety Division – Staff reviews and inspects various building projects throughout the City, including new developments, interior remodels, additions, roofing, and other improvements.
Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program - Staff oversees the funds that are used to address the needs of families, senior citizens and the homeless, as well as economic development and housing programs.
Code Compliance Division – Code Compliance staff are responsible for the enforcement of the City's Municipal Code and coordinating with the Camarillo Police Department and Ventura County Animal Services.
