House Numbering

Having your house and business numbers clearly posted will help the fire and police departments quickly locate you in the event of a fire or other emergency, It is imperative that your numerical address be visible so that you can be reached in a timely manner.

Ventura County Code requires that numerical addresses for each building be at least 4 " in height, made of durable material and posted at a location readily visible from the roadway. For residences, the color of the address numbers must contrast with the background on which they are posted. Brass or gold-colored numbers are prohibited. For commercial and industrial buildings, the minimum height is 6”.

Whenever a building is more than 50 feet from the street, or when the entrance is not visible from the street, the number should be posted adjacent to the driveway entrance, as well as on the structure.
